Clifford Ramon Fagan, LCSW
My name is Ramon Fagan, and I’m a bi-lingual, clinical social worker with experience in group, family, and individual therapy at all levels of care. I currently work as the Program Director of Los Colinas Wellness Centers coordinating training and services of mental health professionals, cultural awareness lecturers, Yoga instructors, and other wellness oriented service providers. My private psychotherapy practice, my professional and free lectures, and billing for such services is also handled through Los Colinas Wellness Centers. I previously worked for four years as a Clinical Care Manager certifying inpatient and outpatient care for Magellan Behavioral Health and then Value Options. Before that I worked in inpatient, partial hospital, and individual settings, primarily treating Seniors, and even served as the director of a Gerio-psych Partial Hospital Program. I also designed, developed, taught, and supervised emergency medicine training program for the military on Carswell Air Force Base.
I am fluent in Spanish and am very experienced in individual and family therapy with men, women, and adolescent males. I also treat children, but have started taking specialized training in that area much more recently. The problems I am most experienced in treating include depression, anxiety, drug or alcohol abuse, family/marrital conflicts, work stress, chronic pain syndrome, and issues related to aging, medical conditions, or lack of acceptance due to culture, religion, or sexual preference.
I study and teach world cultures, Hatha Yoga, and holistic wellness both personally and professionally. This helps me to better understand and make healthy connections with persons from minority cultures or minority religions fairly easily. My cultural upbringing was mostly Old Country Irish and Cherokee Indian. I and my family are currently studying and performing Mexican Native American Dance with a Traditional Teacher. My bachelor's degree is in education with a concentration in health sciences. I am married with four children, 46 years old, a nonsmoker, and in excellent health.
Education: I have my MSSW in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin and am trained for psychotherapy and/or chemical dependency treatment of all types. My internships during graduate school included the drug and alcohol unit of a state youth prison, an alternative high school counselor for “at-risk adolescents”, and a rotation through the “Acute” and Geriatrics sections of the Austin State Hospital. I served for 5 months in the youth prison, 9 months in the alternative high school, and 5 months in the State Hospital. I have worked in nursing internships with a variety of patients as well. I also received detailed training in psychopharmacology and medications administration/monitoring while a graduate level psychiatric nursing student before transferring to the social work department. My undergraduate degree is in education with specialization in Health Sciences. I have also received corporate level training and experience in personnel management.
